Philippine Entertainment Portal published what they call the top scene stealers of 2008. That may not be an appropriate and very subjective description so BlogPipiatBingi decided to render its own interpretation.

MARIAN RIVERA (Controversy Magnet)

Marian Rivera sex scandal, Marian Rivera sex video, Maria Rivera sexy pictures – people are always finding something dirty with this star. And that doesn’t need much explanation. Marian Rivera is the hottest female star today, from Marimar to Dyesabel, to her video of confrontation with a fan; admission that she is a “jologs”; pregnancy rumor (?); and her crying over Karylle’s “mysterious smile.”

Her with Dingdong Dantes One True Love set box office records. There’s really nothing surprising since she inherited the throne once owned Angel Locsin.

DINGDONG DANTES (Sexiest Man)

If you’re love team is as hot and controversial as Maria Rivera then there’s no running away from showbiz intrigues. Plus of course there is the prestigious No. 3 in E! Television’s list of Top 25 Sexiest Men of the World.

GABBY CONCEPCION (The Comeback Kid)

PEP says that Gabby Concepcion’s is probably the biggest comeback in the history of Philippine showbiz is that of Gabby Concepcion, we couldn’t agree more.

This actor will always issues, flair, royalty and some naughty side.

MANNY PACQUIAO (The Boxing Champ)

Giving inspiration while uniting every Filipino, there’s certainly no way for you not to make news. Championship titles including a win over the Golden Boy Oscar dela Hoya, nothing really surprises us. It is as if Manny Pacquiao can do anything.

This boxer is now a Filipino legend and will perhaps soon to be among the Richest Filipino.

MARKY CIELO (Too Young To Die)

Marky Cielo’s death was a virtual repeat of Rico Yan tragedy. Yes both of their deaths are tainted with issues, with a lot more believing that they committed suicide than it is a natural death (acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis). Whatever the facts are, Marky Cielo’s death in the way of suicide is more accepted and justifiable to a lot of people. His death became the ultimate topic of discussion among bloggers, TV shows, news (including a disrespectful coverage by ABS-CBN).

RUDY FERNANDEZ (Goodbye, Daboy)

Showbiz deaths are always a story (with exception of a few like that of Didith Reyes). Daboy’s death was a surprise but the pain that the unfortunate incident brought showbiz friends and family is not.

KC CONCEPCION (The Megadaughter)

Showbiz royalty but a bit overrated, nothing short of a fate fitting for the daughter of Gabby Concepcion and Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

KC Concepcion’s return to the country caused a new era of TV series, film projects, advertisement offers and magazine coverage. Her first movie was with another showbiz royalty Richard Gutierrez in Star Cinema’s For The First Time.

KC is also the UN Ambassador Against Hunger.

JENNYLYN MERCADO (Young Mother)

While other young stars’ career are being ruined with single motherhood, Starstruck graduate Jennyln Mercado’s fate is different.

NADIA MONTENEGRO (The Newsmaker)

Nadia Montenegro became controversial because of her closeness with Gretchen Baretto. Nadia was accused by Gretchen as the one spreading rumors about her alleged affair with Dody Puno. She also had a lot of confrontations with Cristy Fermin.

ROSE FLAMINIANO (The Manager)

The talent manager who caused Gabby Concepcion’s showbiz comeback become a reality.

ERASERHEADS (Concert of the Year)

The band. The legend. Yes, we’ve stated that before in our articles here. We’ve also featured Eraserheads several times on my former show The BEAT, but no TV feature, blog post or newspaper article can perfectly offer the documentation that Eraserheads deserve.

The Eraserheads Reunion Concert quickly became Philippine’s music event of the century (at least for the fans). The greatest Pinoy rock band Eraserheads was reunited for one night at the Fort Open Field, Taguig City.

Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro were once again hailed to their rockstar status. The concert even became more controversial as it was cut short after Ely had to be rushed to the hospital after complaining of chest pains due to emotional and physical stress.

CHARICE PEMPENGCO (International Singing Sensation)

With brands and names like YouTube, Ellen Degeneres, The Paul O’Grady Show, Oprah, Good Morning America, and a specal performances with  Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, Sheryl Crow and Rod Stewart, David Foster, and the Jonas Brothers all hailing you, then there’s no way for you not to make news.

Charice Pempengco’s defeat over Sam Conception at a singing contest in ABS-CBN perhaps opened greener and better opportunities for the talented singer. And with Oprah Winfrey calling Charice Pempengco as “the most talented girl in the world,” we can be certain that there is more to Charice than anybody could ever imagine.
