At least there are no freaky rumors, no legal issues and no sherlock skills needed to find out whatever facts may be out there. Line up guys as this CD will hit the stores this November 3. You know where to buy this concert CD but for how much? I don’t care, anybody ready for Eraserheads Reunion Concert Part 2?!

I just came home from the Eraserheads Reunion Concert, and if you already receieved a text message about the sad news regarding the concert, yes, it is true. Ely Buendia collapsed in the middle of the Eraserheads Reunion Concert. As of this writing, only God knows what’s gonna happen to him.

Everything started out fine. The crowd, needless to say was more than excited. I was just a few feet from Ely during the first part of the event, thanks to the special pass we had for being part of the media covering the concert. Eraserheads started out with the song Alapaap, but after five or six songs, my Executive Producer who was with me noticed something different with Ely. Ely’s finger’s began to jar, as if having a heart attack, true enough, Ely was not able to finish Lightyear, the last song of the first set.

Shortly afer that, a 20 minute break was announced, but the media already knew that the concert will not resume. Ely was immediately rushed to Makati Medical Center. According to an eyewitness, kulay blue na raw si Ely nung ipinasok sa ambulance. We then interviewed artists, supporters and fans about the sad news. The three band member convened backstage to face the media.

I’ll be posting updates about this incident. On a personal note, I’m really sad (I mean who’s not) about what happened. We waited so long for this concert. Ely obviously tried to finish, at least the first half of the concert, but his heart just won’t allow him.

The eraserheads are back in a one time engagement this August 30 at the Cultural Center of the Philippienes (CCP) Open Grounds.

According to a Philippine Star source, the original band members will be performing. That includes Ely Buendia, Buddy Zabala, Marcus Adoro and Raimund Marasigan.

They will also be singing all their hit songs including Alapaap, Toyang and Ang Huling El Bimbo (wow, this concert will really be a long one hehe).

In case you’re wondering what happened to the other bands that Ely tried to established, well Mongol is long dead (I remember I used to be a member of their Friendster group) while Pupil is still playing. No offense to Pupil fans, but I hope that Eheads will be back for good!

I just wanna share this, Ricky Lee (not Ricky Lo, there are two different beings), one of my writing mentors asked Ely Buendia why the Eraserheads disbanded, Ely replied, “Kayo ba naman ang magkakasama ng sampung taon, eh hindi mo naman asawa syempre maghihiwalay kayo.”

Also, Ely being the first subject of my former show Masigasig in QTV 11 composed a song for the program. I liked it so much but unfortunately, Globe (the program’s sponsor) didn’t. Anyway, I think i still have a copy of that song!
