I thought I’m going to read something like “Ces Drilon Beheaded” and I’m glad I didn’t.

I literally feared for her life, along with cameraman Jimmy Encarnacion and Mindanao State University professor Octavio Dinampo. I know we all did. The idea of turning a news reporter into the news itself gives me chills. This incident reminds me well that Media isn’t that powerful (matagal ko na tong alam actually , thanks to the Arroyo Administration). So I don’t see why some people would have a certain reaction upon seeing my media ID.

Excluding the fact that I have come face to face with her during my ABS career, and thus knowing that even with that much popularity and power, she remains very humble and very real, I have not heard of anything bad written or humored about her (unlike of course some other media people).

I can’t imagine ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs Department’s reaction should their Kapamilyas ended up dead and worse, headless because a story pursuit. There should be a lesson or two learned from this incident. And if ever The BEAT shall do a story near Mindanao anytime soon, I’ll make sure that I am on an official leave.
