A man died after falling 10 to 15 meters from Star Flyer, an inverted roller coaster ride in Star City.

Lito Pena fell from the ride and died while on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

Star City denied speculations that the fall from the ride was an accident. According to Star City spokesman Ed de Leon, it was impossible for Pena to fall from the ride unless he intentionally broke free from the seat’s harness before it was locked by computerized control.

Peña’s seat harness was found to be still locked even after the accident. This and the statement of Star Flyer attendant Jhoann Gubat raised a theory that Pena perhaps committed suicide.

“Sabi niya sa akin: ‘Miss, kung sakali bang mahulog ako dito mamatay ako?’ Nagulat po ako kasi siya lang yung nagtanong sa akin ng ganon,” the attendant said.
