Movie Review – The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The Incredible Hulk movie posterComing from Iron Man and Toycon 2008 (where one of my favorite cosplayed characters happens to be Iron Man too) The Incredible Hulk didn't show much to be "incredible". Perhaps I became biased, I always loved Marvel adaptations, and I like this one too, it just didn't push me to go wow!
The story was okay. I mean it’s Hulk, how else can you go wrong? Although there are some movie elements that I didn’t really like simply because I didn’t see a reason or justification for it, the broken lab equipments of the scientist trying to help banner is among them. The scene where Bruce jumped off the chopper to face Abomination was done just to make the scene visual. I just wish the movie gave a hint about Captain America’s existence, since the existence of Captain America should be known at least to the Military group working on super soldiers. Also, I want Hulk to win of course, I just didn’t understand how he won. I mean what does Hulk have that Abomination doesn’t (aside from a hot girl friend and gay purple shorts)?
Unlike others I didn’t hate the first Hulk movie (2003), maybe I should watch it again. Maybe because it was among the firsts Marvel adaptations (at least those I have seen) so I find excuses innate to it.
Edward Norton is perfect for the role. Liv Tyler is better as an elf. And she’s a bit fat now. Plus her characterization is not so general’s daughter-like.
Of course the effects were there. Some action scenes. Nothing really new.
There is also Hulk’s famous moves, the big hand clap and the Hulk Smash. In the movie, when fighting Abomination and Hulk said “Hulk Smash” I said “Oh no…” it almost ruined the whole film. I mean do we really need to be reminded that we are watching a comic adaptation? Good thing I was reminded of Stan Lee’s cameo and the best part – Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in the end. I almost did a Tyrone Smash when I saw that scene (in jubilation of course). As for now, I’m all set for the Avengers!

I agree with you. They should have at least included a cameo or a teaser in the middle about Capt Am.
Though Marvel has already released in the press about the upcoming capt america and thor movie. Sana lang unahin nila yung mga individual character movie bago mag avengers para kilala na ng tao yung mga heroes. Only few people like us who read the comics are familiar with the characters, Young generation now adays doesn’t have any clue on the background of these superheroes.
I gave a thumbs up on hulk 2008 on my own review simply because its better than the 2003 hulk. The previous hulk movie is such a disaster that it flopped the box office. Watch the 2003 movie and it deviated bigtime from the real hulk.

I’ve seen a fan made poster of the Capt. America movie starring Brad Pete. Of course, he is too big for that role so that’s very unlikely. Anyway, the idea of introducing each character through individual movies is what we all want. I just hope these movie outfits make things a bit faster, like two movies a year. I don’t want to wait in vain hehe!
