Ely Collapses at Eraserheads Reunion Concert!

I just came home from the Eraserheads Reunion Concert, and if you already receieved a text message about the sad news regarding the concert, yes, it is true. Ely Buendia collapsed in the middle of the Eraserheads Reunion Concert. As of this writing, only God knows what’s gonna happen to him.
Everything started out fine. The crowd, needless to say was more than excited. I was just a few feet from Ely during the first part of the event, thanks to the special pass we had for being part of the media covering the concert. Eraserheads started out with the song Alapaap, but after five or six songs, my Executive Producer who was with me noticed something different with Ely. Ely’s finger’s began to jar, as if having a heart attack, true enough, Ely was not able to finish Lightyear, the last song of the first set.
Shortly afer that, a 20 minute break was announced, but the media already knew that the concert will not resume. Ely was immediately rushed to Makati Medical Center. According to an eyewitness, kulay blue na raw si Ely nung ipinasok sa ambulance. We then interviewed artists, supporters and fans about the sad news. The three band member convened backstage to face the media.
I’ll be posting updates about this incident. On a personal note, I’m really sad (I mean who’s not) about what happened. We waited so long for this concert. Ely obviously tried to finish, at least the first half of the concert, but his heart just won’t allow him.

i am one of the many who went thru hyskul wid eraserheads songs plaing in the background…. one of the many who worships the band…..one of the many who thinks that eheads is the best pinoy band ever……i have been waiting for years for this reunion concert to happen but sadly i wasnt able to go coz i went wid my lola and aunt to manila peninsula instead….. now i know i wont be able to forgive myself for not going to the concert instead….
just watching the video made me cry….. hearing ely’s voice at the start of alapaap made me weep…..sana nandun ako…

no. they went to saguijo without any plans to perform. it was supposedly the venue for after party. just actions lead to them performing 4 songs with ebe on vocals – Minsan, Spoliarium, Pare ko, Huling El Bimbo.

that’s what ely did actually!!! this the second time na buhay nya ang itinaya to make people happy!!!! ang condition nya di alam ng mga fans the PAIN he has to put up to continue the concert. the pain as characterized as crushing (parang may elepanteng naka dagan sa dibdib nya) and feeling doom. maipit nga lang ang hinliliit mo aaray ka sigurado!!! yun pa kayang “feeling of doom” kasi parang kabayong tumatakbo ng 180kph ang puso nys. walang sapat na oxygen dumadaloy sa puso nya at sa mag circulate sa buong katawan nya! ang pain na nararamdaman nya di ma resolve ng “biogesic” o “Midol” para sa pre menstrual pain. maski Morphine it will take time to ease the pain not unless the underlying cause will be treated or corrected!!!
As having hypokaelemia, ang puso bumabagal ang tibok kung di yun na agapan, it would result to arrest!!! kaya napa luhod si ely at sa back stage ay nag collapse, dahil pag mababa ang potassuim (electrolyte sa dugo) muscle weakness ang signs. at bago pa sya mag collapse or mag pale or blue, alam nya na nag mamanhid na ang part ng katawan nya or nang hihina, at aura that he is not feeling well but he never complained.i can’t understand why wont he if he knew people around him will understand and he can get the support he would need at that time. pero dahil sa alam nya ang BUSINESS that he is into, di pwede i stop or postpone ang show (which is a total joke!) just to make everybody happy!
nakakapikon kailangan pang mag reklamo sa na cut na concert!!!
bago mag salita mag isip isip muna at alamin kung ano ang nangyayari sa disease process ni ely at ang sacrifice ng tao to give you the best show despite pain, weakness, personal reason.
and please respect the passing away of ely’s mom. that is a very big loss for him. stay away from that issue!!!!!
