Philippine Cockatoo, Now Only 180 Left
There are now 180 Philippine Cockatoo living. And even that number is obviously low, this is actually a good news. This is the latest report of the Philippine Cockatoo Conservation Program(PCCP) and Katala Foundation. The number 180 Cacatua haematuropygia birds are under a conservation project in the wilderness of Narra, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Philippines.
This nearly extinct bird has a habit of showing off its dancing and talking abilities. If they are caged, this cockatoos can easily be taught how to speak.
Locally known as ‘Abucay’, this bird likes to eat ‘malungay’ a green leafy vegetable found in the Philippines and many other parts of the world.

Just sad.. I hope that they’d be able to recover though.. The Philippines has one of the most beautiful animals in SEA. Problem is we don’t really take good care of them.
